There i no way to do this automatically. Some simple code may compile easily such as a simple class. We must create a class module and copy the body code into the module. This could be automated by devising an edit program that creates class modules by scanning script. We would then have to edit these by hand to resolve the syntactical differences.
We can also use the command line compilers and generate an error file that may allow for some automation of simple edits. In my experience redesigning the code using the script to tell us the 'what' is a far more productive approach. I have long warned companies and admins about investing too much time into building fancy maintenance tools with VBScript.
We see now that VBScript will be limited in newer systems so merging information between new and old may be an issue. PowerShell can instantiate the script control.
This willhelp to keep admins away from compiled code. Maintenance code should not be compiled or done so only for very targeted issues. This will prevent sophisticated bugs from becoming fixed in your system. PowerShell provides a measure of isolation from faulty code or code that has no source. I was merely trying to clarify my original point that the script encoding utility referenced in earlier posts was for use with VBS files that were then rendered as encrypted VBE files that can be executed via the conventional Wscript and cscript hosts. I have no quibbles with anything else you have written about converting VBS into a compiled language or in using them in the script control within a compiled application.
I also don't have anything useful to offer in that particular arena. Your offerings seem quite to the point in that regard. How do i access the vbscript from a dotnet application when encoded or does it just encode to html or web language which is useless to my environment?
